Effects in Cosmetics
Antifungal Action: Piroctone Olamine effectively inhibits various fungi, including Malassezia furfur, the main cause of dandruff, by penetrating the fungal cell walls and complexing with iron(III) ions, thereby inhibiting the fungi's energy metabolism.
Antibacterial Action: It has bactericidal effects against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
