Phenoxyethanol (Phenylglycol) is an organic compound, a phenol ether of ethylene glycol with the molecular formula C8H10O2. It is a colorless, viscous liquid at room temperature with a weak aromatic, rose-like odor and low solubility in water. Due to its unique chemical properties and mild odor, 2-Phenoxyethanol is widely used in a variety of products, from personal care to industrial applications.

Phenoxyethanol, when mixed with Methyldibromoglutaronitril, may cause Type IV allergies (Allergic Contact Dermatitis), accounting for 4% of all allergies, making it a common contact allergen.
It has a flashpoint of 121°C and can form flammable vapor-air mixtures at high temperatures.
It may form peroxides when reacting with oxygen.
