Panthenol
Panthenol, also known as Dexpanthenol (or Pantothenol, D-Panthenol, Provitamin B5), is a chemical compound belonging to polyols and amides. Panthenol is a racemic mixture composed of Dexpanthenol and Levopanthenol. Dexpanthenol has been used for a long time in medicinal treatment for topical (topical) treatment of skin and mucous membrane diseases, as a cosmetic ingredient in medical skin care, and is also administered intravenously to promote intestinal activity. As a provitamin, Dexpanthenol is converted in the body to pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which is a component of coenzyme A, playing a key role in dermatological metabolism.

Promotes wound healing, especially the recovery of the epidermis.
Increases the skin's moisture retention capacity, improving skin hydration and elasticity.
Has antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Source
Panthenol is mainly obtained through chemical synthesis, with Dexpanthenol being its active form.
In cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, the extraction and purification process of Dexpanthenol involves High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) techniques to ensure its purity and efficacy.
Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals
None
Panthenol is generally considered very safe, rarely causing irritation, redness, or contact allergic reactions.
For intravenous administration, a few patients may experience arrhythmias or significant bradycardia as side effects.
