苯甲酸
Benzoic Acid
Benzoic Acid, with the chemical formula C6H5COOH, is a white (or colorless) solid organic compound. Its structure consists of a benzene ring (C6H6) with a carboxyl (−C(=O)OH) substituent. Benzoic Acid is the simplest aromatic carboxylic acid. Its name is derived from gum benzoin, which was for a long time its only source.
Benzoic Acid occurs naturally in many plants and serves as an intermediate in the biosynthesis of many secondary metabolites. Salts of benzoic acid are used as food preservatives. Benzoic acid is an important precursor for the industrial synthesis of many other organic substances. The salts and esters of benzoic acid are known as benzoates.

Effects in Cosmetics
Benzoic Acid has a variety of effects and applications, some of which are listed below:
As a preservative in foods and cosmetics, inhibiting the growth of mold, yeast, and some bacteria.
Used as a pH adjuster in cosmetics, helping to maintain the stability and safety of the product.
Source or Extraction Method
Benzoic Acid is widely found in nature in many plants, such as cranberries, apples, etc.
Industrially, benzoic acid is typically produced by the partial oxidation of toluene, catalyzed by cobalt or manganese naphthenates.
