Basil Oil / Ocimum basilicum
Basil Essential Oil (Ocimum basilicum), originates from Asia and the Pacific Islands. This plant can grow up to 40 cm tall, featuring broad oval-shaped leaves that beautifully contrast its white and purple flowers. Bees swarm these plants during summer. Basil oil is produced in North Africa, Cyprus, and the Seychelles, with European basil oil considered to be of the highest quality. Its use in Indian traditional medicine spans centuries, and it remains a valued plant in modern Greece, where it's a common culinary herb and found in churches, earning nicknames like "the joy of the mountain."
